Back with a vengeance…
I’ve finally went to watch Munich this weekend…
… and I just loved it!
All the settings, the action, the transformation of Avner (played by Eric Bana) going from a national cause to a questioning reflection of things to come based on his actions…
Is vengeance the answer to human conflict? As someone once said: Voilence only generates more violence…
The final scene has Avner questioning Ephraim about what he had done has a meaning at all and realizing the implication to his an life and his family’s and, as the camera pans to the left, to the whole US (pictured by the Manhattan sklyline and the World Trade Center)…
Man, pure poetry in images…
Vengeance after vengeance…

Postcards from the edge (of sanity)
Yep, you guessed this is my Valentine’s Day post…
Why should we rememmorate a guy that I don’t know, I don’t care of, if I could go around the desk and give my wife some love? And specifically THIS day?
Today all appliable “love places” are going to be packed, the traffic is going to be (believe it, and some of us did not think it was possible) worst than ever, anyway…
Whomever is reading this blog I wish you a happy Valentine’s day… (whatever should this mean…)
Beware of the modern pirates, though… At least here in Mexico…
Love, rumors, penguins and other birds…
This weekend I tried to catch up with my movie list and I could not say I did a great job… First, I went to see Rumor has it wih my wife and as I told in another post, one of the last phases resumed one of the most important things is my life an how I see it love:
(Jennifer Aniston as Sara): I am not going to tell you that I couldn’t live without you because I can…
(Mark Ruffalo as Jeff) Staring silently at her
(Sara): I will live with you because I want to!
There. Love is more than a feeling, feelings pass with time… Love is a decision…
Then, yesterday after our ration of Torino Winter Olympic Games, we went out to see the March of the Penguins… I loved the movie but I hated the WaltDisney-esque way to direct a documentary with “talking” penguins… Man, I wanted desperately to become a seal and eat all of them!
The photography is great and the sounds (every one of them) are even greater!
Still waiting to see Munich, though…
Grammied impressions
Yikes! What kind of title is that?..
Anyway, yesterday I was making a much needed backup on my laptop files and since my CD burner take its time to crunch the bytes in the CD and does not let me do anything else with my laptop, I was in the mood for some quality TV…
I enter the zap mode and did find the Grammys show when it was begining, so here are my impressions of my fvorites performances:
- Gorillaz + Madonna: how cool was that?
- U2: I didn’t liked the first song but One was something else!
- Coldplay: These guys are the very best, the interaction with the audience was awesome!
- Kelly Clarkson: Hmmm… I have mixed emotions about this girl, her singing is great but her thank you performance… I had to grab my sick bag (twice)! :’(
- Paul Mc Cartney: Old reliable Rock & Roll! It is a fine line! Oh, and the drummer from the band that played with him, how fun was that guy!
- Linkin’ Park + Jay-Z: The first ones one of my favorites bands and this album is one of my favorites too!
- Linkin’ Park + Jay-Z + PM: One word: WOW!
- Christina Aguilera: Even though I don’t like her songs, her voice is something out of this world… That girl can sing!

Memoirs of a Geisha…
As I wrote in one posting in another blog (from work, sorry), the new movies here in Mexico are not that new in other parts of the globe…
This weekend I went to see an awesome movie called Memoirs of a geisha and it was real fun to watch…
The story, ambience, photography but specially the acting and the music (via John Williams)…
A beatiful quote (taken from the IMDb site): “Mameha: [in voiceover] Remember, Chiyo, geisha are not courtesans. And we are not wives. We sell our skills, not our bodies. We create another secret world, a place only of beauty. The very word “geisha” means artist and to be a geisha is to be judged as a moving work of art.”
One word: wow!
P.S.: I’m still waiting to see Munich…
Are you a XL or a LXXVIII person?
Yes indeed… This is the time of the year when the awards-sports-champioships session begins, and as the title describes it, the Super Bowl XL and the 78th Oscar are right across the corner…
As a football fan, I am eagerly awaiting the XL version of the Super Bowl promises a good match between two of the more prolific teams this year in the NFL… I got a hunch that the Steelers may win this one but I will cheer for the Seahawks, let see who has the edge…
I got mixed emotions regarding the Oscar: most of the pictures nominated for the Best Picture category, are not released in Mexico yet so I really don’t have a favorite (however, I just submitted my favorites in another blog)… I would like to see Munich this weekend and see if this one is in the range of Schindler’s List (I know these two are not theme-related if you may, but I would like to see Steven Spielberg excell himself)…
Anyway…
