Thanks

After some events that happened recently, I can’t thank enough my parents for send me to English classes.

Thank you! Really, thank you guys!

Damn…

I waited the whole week to write this, once my head is cool and everything, but I can’t avoid feeling like crap when I remember this again.

On Monday, due to Martin Luther King Jr’s anniversary, I had a day off that we (my wife and I ) wanted to enjoy with this person (I’m not going to mention who that was since I don’t want to)…

Anyway, one day earlier, she called my wife and used sentimental blackmail to do something that she wanted to do and upset my wife… Obviously, we cancelled our plans and felt like crap the following day…

On Thursday we found out the this person did what she treathened to do, without asking my wife permission simply because “she can”…

I don’t like (to say the least) the people that uses feelings to do whatever they want even if the person they do that somehow needs it…

There is something called respect, you know?

Let’s get started…

… Somebody near my house did yesterday!

They had this “let’s involve the whole neighborhood” party, without asking any body… And by they, I’m referring to my local representatives.

I’m not a bitter, boring person, but when you do that, and finish the said party at 3:00 a.m. when I planned to wake up at 4:30 a.m., I’m not the happiest person in the room.

Anyway, I think I manage to block the noise and rest in intervals all night long. I don’t even feel tired. My wife on the other hand…

Meh…

I hope those “weekday” parties end soon… If you we’re trying to get my vote in the next elections (due to the middle of year), you’re using the wrong tactics…

Off to N.J.

As promised this is the first part of the comical magical mistery tour that were my vacations in N.J.

Buying tickets

Yep this is the first stop. Have you tried buying tickets via the web in other country which is not the U.S.? No? Dante’s inferno is a playground compared…

No availability, no response from the system, having to register even though I was already a user, etc. Nice! Really nice…

After finally deciding to do the reservations via web and actually acquiring our tickets on an actual ticket office, we were ready to let my sister that we’re really going to N.J.

Arriving to the airport

According to the fantabolous rules in order, we have to get to the airport 3 hours in advance to our actual departure, going backwards from 9:00 a.m.:

6 a.m. Get into the cab with two “little” pieces of luggage… Did I took the passports from the table?.. Yep…

4:30 a.m. Getting up to take a quick shower and getting ready for the cab to arrive… There are the passports…

1:00 a.m. Finally deciding that nothing else is needed and that the luggage is ready. Check that the tickets, passports, visas and money are in place…

6:00 p.m. (Sunday) Reviewing that the things we need to tke with us are already packed and in place. Where are the passports?

Getting into the gate

The guy in the ticket office told us: “Since you already have your boarding passes, get into the first class lane (we’re traveling business class) and get your luggage registered…”

Half an hour later an after looking that the business lane moved quicker, we got to the counter.

Famous comforting word from an airlane employee: “Gee, that bag weighs more than the allowed pounds…”

Passing things from one bag to the other to balance the weight among them in not time whatsoever record holder: Me.

Quick breakfast before getting into the gate, who changed (upgraded) the terminal? Where’s the restaurant?

Finally we arrived to the gate.

(To be continued…)

Patience…

Today I learned another lesson in something that is somehow scarce today: patience.

After trying to see what’s going on with Twitter (too much people playing with the API, perhaps) I said: Oh well and stop minding about it… It is 9:30 p.m. and still some of my contacts are suffering with the different instances of the API…

Then I get with the wife to the school and the internet conection is moving slower than a snail…

After “bothering” the support (I am being sarcastic here) and telling me: “Well Macs behave like that” (communication protocols anyone?) or the infamous: “it is due to the hour, the network is overcrowded”, I proceeded to my place and wonder: “If it’s connecting to the network why is still too slow?” and voilá an ephiphany: “Didn’t the guys from the ISP put some DNS address to this machine?”

I went to the system preferences, then to the net configuration and press delete for a while…

… and abolute success, the network is behaving as it should…

Now… What I was trying to do?

Silent lucidity…

… I know this one was the title for a song by Queensryche back in the day, and after a day of struggle with my ISP, I almost gave up.

Around 3 P.M., the speed started to behave erratically and bombed dramatically leaving me with nothing…

And by nothing I mean a count to be done and a plethora of status reports to be delivered.

But it is Friday! Move along, move along…

A message…

Here is some lecturing for you that do other things while driving…

That includes: fighting with your kids, eating, smocking, brushing your teeth (don’t ask!), watching T.V. (don’t even imagine that) and/or talking on the phone.

Some commercial that is running on the radio (at least in Mexico City) says (after playing a tone that sounds somehow macabre) reaching someone voice mail message: Hi! I can’t answer your call since I’ve been involved in a car accident while I was trying to answer your call. If I survive, I may return your call…

There. Don’t even have the slight hope in your brain that I’m going to answer to your “important” call to my cell phone number while driving.  It is not going to happen. Not now, nor ever…

P.S. In case you were wondering, this post happened after being a little bored and listening to the radio.

Take care of your stuff…

… while passing the security checkpoints at the airport.

Watch this video (found through Gizmodo) on YouTube and beware of the scam…

You’re not allowed to be a kid anymore…

What is described in this article goes beyond ridiculous!

Now, to develop some of the basic skills your kids will have to go to a virtual world like Second Life to set a playground and play tag or whatever physical contact game during recess! At least in some US east coast (New England) schools…

So kids: you’re not able to play because if you get injured, mommy and daddy may find your school responsible for that and sue it for you being a kid!!!!

Unbelievable!

On a second thought: maybe I will be a millionaire right now if my parents did that, back in the day… Turn back the clock, anyone? 😛

P.S. And then, the I.R.S. is coming…

Our values…

Are we thriving towards a more in this minute no matter what society?

As I see the days in my life go by (not actually seeing them , but living them, OK?), I can see that people are changing their values for a more material benefits.

It seems to me that the more (money, material things, titles, etc.) people have, the more inhuman are…  And they neglect their human side.

We should retake our humanity back and thrive to be happy, not by gathering things, but  by living our lives at their maximum.

Anyway… Let’s see what happens…
